SUMMARY: Performs workflow observations and analysis, value stream mapping, identifies areas of opportunity for improvements, performs root cause analysis, establishes, and facilitates multi-disciplinary rapid process improvement workshops, reengineers business processes to streamline and optimize operations and assists in the development and maintenance of a systemwide Lean Daily Management System.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  Designs and leads improvement initiatives commissioned by AHS Leadership using performance improvement methodologies grounded in Lean.
  
  
• 
  Manages Performance Improvement projects and facilitates Rapid Improvement events.
  
  
• 
  Promotes improvements to positively achieve key performance improvement indicators relative to safety, quality, cost, productivity, throughput, and cycle times.
  
  
• 
  Promotes and models change management tools and approaches.
  
  
• 
  Establishes plans and procedures including standard work and daily management systems to assure that improvements are realized and sustained.
  
  
• 
  Serves as an expert consultant and advisor in performance improvement methodologies.
  
  
• 
  Assists departments and other staff in the organization in the development of Value Stream portfolios of initiatives and consults/coaches executive sponsors and process owners to sequence and execute on the Value Stream portfolio, with the use of project management, performance improvement, and change management tools and expertise.

  Determines the appropriate improvement model to use for identified performance improvement projects.
  
  
• 
  Builds internal capability by coaching others to conduct their own assessments and improvement events.
  
  
• 
  Implements specific monitoring activities and daily management to assure improvement sustainability and control.
  
  
• 
  Provides Lean/Performance Improvement training to AHS employees and teams and team members (colleagues) in classroom and virtual settings, within meetings/workshops, and informal ways.
  
  
• 
  Promotes the development of internal capability and spread.
  
  
• 
  Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  
  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
  Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare, science, business, engineering, or statistics business or health-related field.
  Preferred Education: Master's degree in a healthcare, science, business, engineering, or statistics business or health-related field.
  Required Experience: Five years healthcare experience, including three years of experience leading Process Improvement work teams; experience training varying levels of an organization using different process improvement methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma.
  Preferred Experience: Lean Six Sigma Healthcare or Performance Improvement training experience; process improvement and Lean coaching experience.
  Required Licenses/Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
