Summary SUMMARY:- The SLH Insurance Verifier is responsible for completing, verifying and pre-billing assigned accounts prior to and after admission prior to transfer to the business office. Performs related duties as required.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees inthis classification.- However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level.- Not all dutieslisted are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.----------- Pre-registers all elective admissions generating account number for Surgery Department to initiate the nursing assessment in CPCS.---------- All co-pays, deductibles, out of pocket expense and self pay accounts identified during the verification process are communicated to the Admitting staff and/or patient in a timely fashion to effect collection.---------- Reviews the Medicare 72 Hours Report on a daily basis and combine accounts when appropriate.----------- ---------- Communicate with patients, insurance carriers, review organizations, employers, Insurance Adjustors, Central Business Office and physicians to gather all necessary information to complete the registration data.---------- Display exceptional customer service skill in responding to all inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, outside agencies, internal departments and coworkers.---------- All inpatient, Surgical Day Care and Special Procedure patients will be checked for accuracy and completion of billing demographic information to allow for timely reimbursement.---------- Claims check rejection report to be reviewed at least three times a week and will be corrected in a timely fashion to allow for timely reimbursement.---------- Verify Medicare benefits on all inpatient and outpatient accounts using the Med-A terminal.- Information to be communicated to all concerned in a timely fashion.---------- Type Doctors' First Report of Injury for Workman's Comp cases registered in the Emergency Department.- Maintains WC employer card file.---------- Type Medi-Cal TARs, transmit request to Medi-Cal Field Office for date stamp.--------------- Maintain patient log and authorization file. Review facesheets for insurance errors and correct in CPCS.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum Experience: One year prior experience in admitting/registration, billing, accounting, clerical or finance with a preference for experience in medical office or hospital billing.
