Job Description:
Central Coast VNA & Hospice (VNA) is experiencing tremendous
growth in our hospice and palliative care programs, and we are
excited to expand our team by seeking a Spiritual Care Counselor to
support patients and families with compassionate spiritual and
emotional care. For more than 74 years, VNA has delivered
team-driven home health, palliative, and hospice services across
the Central Coast from rehabilitation and chronic disease
management to comfort care at life’s end always grounded in
dignity, respect, and individualized care plans. As a nonprofit

health services for our community. Job Summary: The Spiritual Care
Counselor leads and delivers a comprehensive Spiritual Care Program
for hospice home care patients and families. This role provides
compassionate, individualized spiritual support, collaborates
closely with the interdisciplinary care team (IDT), and works in
partnership with patients’ faith leaders when requested. The
Counselor also serves as a resource for ethical reflection,
community education, and the development of volunteer chaplaincy
services. Status: Per Diem Responsibilities: Provide spiritual and
emotional support to patients and families facing serious illness,
death, and bereavement Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
to ensure holistic, patient-centered care Coordinate spiritual care
with patient's pastors, clergy, or faith leaders as appropriate
Offer guidance and recommendations related to ethical questions and
care decisions Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications: Master
of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent graduate-level education in
pastoral care or a related field Demonstrated experience in
pastoral counseling or spiritual care Knowledge of end-of-life
care, grief, loss, and the dying process Ability to provide
spiritual care across diverse beliefs, cultures and traditions
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to push or pull up to 50lbs. and lift or carry up to 25lbs
Ability to move between office, patient homes, and community sites
Special Requirements: Current driver's license Auto insurance

factors such as location and required skills. The salary range
provided reflects the lowest to highest amount we reasonably
anticipate paying for this position at the time of posting.
Compensation is influenced by labor market conditions and various
factors, including but not limited to: prevailing minimum wage in
the area, relevant education, experience, skills, geographic
location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue
targets, and business needs. It is not typical for a new hire to be
offered the highest end of the salary range. Pay decisions are
based on the unique circumstances of each candidate and position.
