Job Description:
Alameda Health System (AHS) is seeking Full-Time and
Services-As-Needed Emergency Medicine Physicians to staff San
Leandro and Alameda Hospitals in the Division of Community
Emergency Medicine. AHS is an integrated public health system
spanning 5 facilities, 4 ambulatory sites and 800 beds providing
primary, specialty, Stroke, STEMI, and Level 1 Trauma in addition
to supporting several residency programs. Our safety net system is

Medicine team works with nurses, specialists, and support staff to
provide excellent care to the East Bays highly diverse patient
community. The Division of Community Emergency Medicine is part of
the Highland Hospital-based Department of Emergency Medicine. As a
Community Emergency Medicine Physician, you will have the

clinician. Job Summary Emergency Medicine physicians are
responsible for providing expert, safe, efficient,
patient-centered, and cost-effective care within the Emergency
Department and responding to in-house emergencies at the Hospital.
Their role includes triaging, taking patient histories and physical
examinations, interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests,
correlating subjective and objective data, diagnosing, and writing
orders for all patients who present to the Department. This
position reports directly to the Medical Directors and Division
Chief of Community Emergency Medicine, under the overall leadership
of the Chair of the Emergency Medicine Department. Job
Responsibilities: Provide medical services to all patients assigned
to the ED physician. Consult with medical staff members about
issues concerning appropriate medical services for such patients.
Consult and cooperate with the clinical departments to facilitate
patient care. Refer patients for specialty care when medically
necessary. Use currently accepted methods and practices of
medicine, adhere to applicable standards of care, medical ethics,
policies and protocols, and timely documentation in the Electronic
Health Record. On a case-by-case basis, take all necessary actions
to ensure the appropriate transfer of patients to or from medical
facilities to access to skilled medical care. Promote and maintain
positive working relationships between medical staff and employees.
Help the hospital achieve goals related to patient, employee, and
physician satisfaction in connection with the delivery of services.
Work with the quality manager to improve clinical outcomes, the
quality of patient care and the efficient use of physician and
hospital resources. Provide appropriate medical assessment,
treatment and timely discharge of patients admitted for
observation. Communicate any material concerns about quality of
care, delay in delivery of medical services, or any patient
concerns. Adhere to the requirements and standards of The Joint
Commission, accrediting agencies, and all applicable AHS policies,
code of conduct, rules, and regulations. Work with hospital
operations and nursing to implement new procedures, controls, and
systems to promote quality, cost control, reimbursement functions,
and standardization of products and equipment. Provide effective
and timely communications to referring or admitting physicians,
patients and family about the clinical status of each patient
admitted through the ED. Maintain good public relations on behalf
of AHS and help achieve goals related to patient/employee/physician
satisfaction in connection with delivering clinical services.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director and the
Department Chair. Qualifications Required Education: Doctor of
Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) Minimum
Experience: Completion of approved post-graduate residency training
in Emergency Medicine from an accredited hospital or medical
center. Required Licenses/Certifications: Board eligibility in
Emergency Medicine Board Certification (expected on the appropriate
schedule) Compliance with the Board mandated education and training
to maintain State licensure and board certification. Possession of
a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Pay Range: $169.66-$179.86 / Hour The pay range for this position
reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System.
Final compensation will be determined based on several factors,
including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education,
skills, licensure, and certifications, departmental equity,
applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational
needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers
