Overview
ABOUT THE ROLE -
Seneca's Nonpublic Schools are hiring a School Nurse to prescribe, implement, and evaluate the nursing care delivered to grades K-5 students at Maya Angelou Academy and grades 5-12 students at James Baldwin Academy. As the School Nurse, you'll have the opportunity to use the nursing process to provide assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of client care within designated clinical areas. Our School Nurses also meet regulatory documentation standards and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in QA and UR activities.

Maya Angelou Academy and James Baldwin Academy are nonpublic schools that provides special education services to students with a variety of emotional, behavioral, or social needs. We provide individualized attention and direct instruction in core areas in order to help our students make adequate yearly progress on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals while adhering to a general education standards-based curriculum. The goal of our specialized services is to address the behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges of each student to prepare them for a less restrictive educational setting. Responsibilities

• 
  
• Evaluate illness or injuries -
  
• Monitor physician orders for medication or treatment
  
• Evaluate prescriptions filled at outside pharmacies
  
• Collaborate with Pediatricians, Specialists, Psychiatrists, Therapists, and hospitals who provide care to the children
  
• Train staff on medications and handling medication
  
• Deliver health-related education for staff and children
  
• Document all nursing intervention and medication assistance records
  
• Attend treatment reviews related to health care for children to grow professionally
  
  Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR California School Nurse Credential required
    
  • CPR - BLS
    
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License
    
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
    
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
    
  • Psychiatric Nursing experience a plus
    
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster
