The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing ENGIE's
construction sites, ensuring safety practices are observed at all
times, and that quality installations are provided for our
customers. Projects include a combination of energy efficiency
measures and renewable generation installations, to help local
cities, schools and counties or other Public Sector customers
become more sustainable, save money, and improve services to their
end users. The Construction Manager will assist the Program
Management Team during the contract development and engineering
design phases of such projects and will work closely with each
project's respective Project Manager during the project execution
phase.
This position can sit in Oakland, CA or San Jose, CA and will
report to the Director of Project Management.
What you'll do:
- Oversees the construction of energy and water related customer
improvements (such as solar PV, energy storage, LED lighting
retrofits, HVAC/control upgrades, water fixture and water meter
retrofits, and SCADA upgrades)
- Provides field input to assist with tracking and reporting of
schedule and budget performance during the construction
phase.
- Supports cost estimation and scheduling for projects in
development/design.
- Prepares and executes Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality
Assurance and Quality Control plans.
- Ensures construction conforms to civil, mechanical, electrical,
and instrumentation & controls drawings, specifications, and all
other relevant codes.
- Sets overall project schedule in coordination with the Project
Manager.
- Provides constructability review of scopes during development
and of subcontractor plans during implementation, determining if
special operator access or maintenance provisions are
required.
- Coordinates with Project Engineer for technical consult and
QA/QC inspections.
- Leads the punch list process between substantial and final
completion; leads the project turnover from construction through
commissioning to operations.
- Manages customer requirements for site access and security for
Contractor, including but not limited to key card access.
- Manages customer site staff's expectations and works with their
schedules/constraints to minimize construction impact to building
occupants.
- Manages outage requests with customers and utilities
- Coordinates with Underground Utility Locator during
construction to locate buried utilities and be informed of
underground lines prior to excavating.
- Supports the Project Manager with Technical/Commercial
oversight including:
- Review of Change Requests, Directives, etc.
- Review of monthly payment applications from Contractors and
Construction Administrators
- Orchestrates the design of traffic control prior to
construction activities.
- Oversees AHJ, utility and special inspections to ensure project
receives all necessary permit sign-offs, coordinating with Project
Manager and Project Engineer as needed
- Documents project progress in Procore, including site photos,
incident reports, safety documents, and daily logs and
rosters
- Works with Labor Compliance team to ensure all local labor
compliance regulations are met
- Works with Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Project
Engineer to obtain closeout documentation
What you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in degree in Construction Management or in a
technical field from an ABET institution or equivalent in
demonstrated experience; Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
license is a plus
- A minimum of seven (7) years in management of construction for
industrial or municipal projects with demonstrated success
- Advanced understanding of design and construction of applicable
energy/water scopes of work
- Ability to adhere to the highest safety standards
- Mastery of problem-solving and root cause analysis
skills
- Demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie,
integrity and trust among the integrated project team
members
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening
to other's ideas and viewpoints and resolving team conflict
situations
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure
performance expectations and resultant outcomes are met
- Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing
subcontractors, contracts administration and change
management
- Strong presentation and communication skills (verbal and
written) to be able to engage with all stakeholders including
contractors and government agencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Project) and Procore
- OSHA 30 certification
- Must hold a valid driver's license

- Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need

- Must be available to travel up-to 25% of the time and with the
need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE's policy with

- Salary Range: $112,000-$172,500 USD, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography,
experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide
factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a
