Job Description:
University Instructors, LLC is seeking talented people from
diverse backgrounds and experiences to lead, change, and inspire
students in the San Leandro area.As a Para Educator, you'll:
Directly assist special education students including, but not
limited to emotionally disturbed, severely disabled, autistic,
behavioral bilingual and full inclusion under general supervision
from certificated personnel, Provide support and general
supervision of students in various instructional settings including
general education, pre-K 12, and adult, and Assist with the
instructional and physical needs of students . Role
Responsibilities In this role, you'll support students with special
needs. You may also perform the following assignments: Adapt of
classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the
direction of the supervising teacher to meet student needs and
reinforce classroom objectives. Administer medical assistance as
instructed by a health care professional. This might include
multiple duties (e.g., toileting assistance and cleaning of
students, diapering, gastronomy, tube/button feeding, colostomy and
ileostomy care, catheterization, wound care, and medication
distribution) other duties will be assigned relative to the
students needs. Assist medically fragile and physically disabled
students with self-feeding, hygiene and general care related to
daily living activities. Assume general responsibility for a
classroom under the guidance and supervision of authorized
certificated personnel for the purpose of maintaining established
classroom management routines. Attend all meetings and training
related to the role (e.g., first aid, CPR, CPI and emergency
procedures) to stay up to date on relevant practices and skills
required for the position. Communicate with all supervisory and
instructional support staff in a professional and courteous manner.
Transport and escort students as needed to various assigned
activities. Report all observations of incidents and classroom
activities related to student(s) working under your assigned
supervision to the certificated teacher leading the classroom on a
daily basis via written and verbal communication. Perform other
related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the
efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Skills,
Knowledge, and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple
tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet
changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required
to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment
including using pertinent software applications; preparing and
maintaining accurate records.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic
math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or
ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following
prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and
understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily
perform the functions of the job include instructional procedures
and practices; age-appropriate student activities; safety practices
and procedures; conflict resolution; and stages of child
development/ behavior.ABILITY is required to schedule activities;
gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of
circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different
processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of
individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of
job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify
issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may
require independent interpretation; and problem solving with
equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based
competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of
the job include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating
with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part
of a team; and working with constant
interruptions.ResponsibilityResponsibilities include working under
direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding,
and/or coordinating others; Utilization of some resources from
other work units is often required to perform the job's functions.

methods of performing the jobs functions require the following
physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or
pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping,
kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger
dexterity. Generally, the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking,
and 33% standing. The job is performed under conditions with
exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean
atmosphere. Education and Experience requirements Experience: Job
